Glossary¶
Stub — to be expanded.
- Agentic research pipeline
- An information system in which one or more AI agents (LLMs with tools, possibly orchestrated in multi-agent topologies) execute non-trivial portions of a research workflow.
- Artifact
- Any durable output of the pipeline — code, figures, tables, intermediate notes, prompts, datasets, drafts.
- Autonomy level
- A 0–3 score capturing how much human oversight a system requires
per task. See
projects/EVALUATION.md. - Capability (deprecated; use pipeline stage + architectural feature)
- Earlier draft term for what a system does. Split into orthogonal axes in v0.1.
- Knowledge layer
- The pipeline's interface to prior scholarship — literature, citations, theory, reusable methods.
- Knowledge production
- The act, by an information system, of generating scholarly artifacts from inputs and data + knowledge.
- Pipeline stage
- One of the canonical phases of the research lifecycle — ideation, literature, design, data, analysis, drafting, review, replication, dissemination.
- RISE
- Research Information Systems Engineering. See Definition.
