Regression Discontinuity Design
Regression discontinuity (RD) exploits a known threshold in a running variable (also called score, forcing variable, or assignment variable) that determines treatment assignment. Units just above and just below the cutoff are assumed to be comparable in all respects except treatment status, creating a local quasi-experiment at the cutoff.
